Elden Ring Nightreign is a co-op survival game launching next year
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco surprised everyone last night by announcing an Elden Ring spin-off.
Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone co-op, action survival game that combines both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls franchise by pushing players to band together to defeat the Nightlord.
Set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring, players must choose between eight unique characters – known as Nightfarers – with different abilities and powerful Ultimates, and explore Limveld, where they must make split-second decisions on combat and exploration to survive a three-night cycle.
The game’s night cycle shrinks the map with the coming of the Night’s Tide. At the end of each night, players must face a powerful boss and, if victorious, awaken to bigger challenges before the session culminates in a third night, where players must face off against the chosen Nightlord.
You can play solo or as a team of up to three players, but FromSoftware suggests “strength will come in numbers” and urges Nightfarers to “learn to cooperate to take down their challenges” across the shifting map of Limveld, where enemies, Rune rewards, and Limveld itself change with each session.
Elden Ring Nightreign will be released in 2025 for PC and PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
